Happy 2 Week Birthday to Our Baby!
February 1, 2009 by admin

Today is Jasmine’s 2 week birthday! Only two weeks ago today we were in a hospital room with our baby still inside of me. I can’t imagine our lives without her now. She’s brought a lot of joy to us and caused a lot of smiles. Just look! Unfortunately she doesn’t smile much as of now and when she does, they are allegedly caused by gas.

Jasmine is a great baby relative to what I’ve read online about other parents’ experiences with colicky babies and those that don’t sleep more than 15-20 minutes at a time. She usually eats for about an hour, sleeps 2-3 hours at a time (with lots of grunting and noises throughout), and poops 6-8 times a day. She does have a few minutes of wakefulness and/or crying between but overall it’s just eat, sleep, and poop overlapping with each other.
Jason and I have been doing shifts at night since as I said, she doesn’t sleep more than 2-3 hours at a time without needing to eat again. So if you didn’t believe it before, we can vouch that the infamous lack of sleep when babies come along is 150% true. We enjoy her while we have the energy but we’d be lying if we said we weren’t looking forward to when she’s a few months old. Then she’ll be a bit more active during the day and more sleepy at night!

I came across this cupcake recipe from the Smitten Kitchen and knew they’d be perfect to make for her 2 week birthday. Obviously she won’t be eating cupcakes for a while so we’ll just be eating her share for now
She’ll probably be mad at us for doing this to her but we gave her a cupcake hat!
Happy birthday baby girl!! We love you

To the JLHs (or J-cubic):
Baby Jasmine Lee is adorable. Enjoy!!!
woah 6-8 pooops a day, are you guys using green diapers? =)
Jacquie: Yes! In fact we are
We use biodegradable disposables at night and when we go out with her but clothe diapers with flushable inserts at home.
Jacquie! You are hard core, baking just two weeks after having a baby! Cute pictures…and yes, they were sooooooooo delicious! Well worth the three types of liquor they called for; our guests demolished all 32 cupcakes.
