D.P. Dough Philly!

October 16, 2009

The four of us - Mikey, Scott, Jason, and I - traveled down a long and hard road for three years to get to where we were a few weeks ago. On Saturday, September 26th at 5 PM, we opened the doors of D.P. Dough Philly to business for the first time. Our full story deserves a book, let alone a blog post. I’ll reserve that for another time though and just leave you with a few of the pics from our opening day.

We were so unprepared to pass our health inspection that our soda wasn’t even scheduled to come in yet. Scott and I rushed to a local beverage depot and filled up the car with beverages.

The make-shift sign Jason put up to let people know we’d be opening that day.

Sonny has been a great supporter of us despite the fact that we were the ones who kicked him out of his original location. He was even our first customer ever!

Recent visit with Uncle B and Auntie C

October 16, 2009

Here are a few from a recent visit with Uncle B and Auntie C. Jasmine’s a crawling speed demon now and there are some pics of her in action.

If you’re wondering what that black thing in her hair is in a few pictures, it’s a velcro-like patch used to keep hair in place. Uncle B was all about it even though Jasmine tried to convince him it was too unsightly. Needless to say, she left it with him to try to pawn off on a less fashion-forward baby.

Mom and Dad’s new house

Here are some pics of mom and dad’s house in Long Island post-renovation.

We all did a good job with the design choices, if I do say so myself!

Winners of Burger Cook-Off!

October 16, 2009

Our friends M&E invited us to partake in their first ever burger cook-off at their apartment in LIC recently. Being the burger types, we couldn’t turn down a challenge where all participants were winners (except vegetarians…you know who you are missy).

We used Jason’s simple and foolproof method for great burgers and they were thoroughly enjoyed by the judges, who eventually named us victors. I didn’t get to snap a picture of the burgers since we were too busy eating but while the grill was heating up, I took a shot of the beautiful view from the shared BBQ’ing area of their new building.

Lest you think I didn’t pull my weight, I contributed by making dessert burgers:

cupcake-burger-and-cone

This was a cupcake cut in half with a brownie in the middle and colored frosting playing ketchup/mustard.

Next to my “burger” is E’s awesome cupcakes in an ice cream cone. I’m thinking that I may have to steal this idea and make these for Jasmine’s 1st birthday party!

Welcome to Queens, M&E! Two more down, many more to go :)

Labor Day 2009

October 16, 2009

Here are the pictures I took from the cruise we went on this past Labor Day on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2. We left out of the Navy Yard in Brooklyn and went up to New Brunswick, Canada.

Jasmine wasn’t ready to fully appreciate the virtues of vacation yet but I’m sure she loved all of the non-stop attention she got from family and friends.
