Not just any Sunday

We finally put together the footage for Jan 18th (from the beginning to the birth) so we hope you enjoy.
Disclaimer: I had originally done this is FCE but couldn’t figure out LiveType. Long story short I had to convert this like 4 times for iMovie, which caused the first few frames to be rough in transition (i.e the first scene/second scene transition). I swear the clip transition throughout was flawless.
Enjoy the short 6 minute movie
5 (Fun!) Things About Jasmine
March 6, 2009
I’ve been working on posting my labor story, which due its length requires a lot of editing, but I promise I’ll get it up soon! Maybe even before she turns one year old. Until then, here are a few photos and tidbits of information to keep you entertained.
1. Jasmine prefers vertical
Jasmine is a really curious baby so unless we’re putting her to bed or feeding her, she doesn’t like to be held in the cradle position where all she can see is the ceiling. She prefers to be held upright now so she can look around.

2. Jasmine loves being held (shocking, huh?)
She wakes up for a couple of feedings in the middle of the night but regardless of what time she last ate, she wakes up at 5:30 am wanting to be cuddled. We assume it’s because she’s been alone for so many hours and therefore indulge her (ok ok, we love it too). I usually have her sleep on my chest in our glider but Jason prefers sleeping with her by his side.

3. Jasmine as a vegetable
I have a new nickname for Jasmine! After my parents bundled her up in a green receiving blanket. Featuring my snow pea (not to be confused with Sweet Pea grandma
)!

4. Jasmine’s newly acquired smile
If you’ve visited our videos link, you’ll see that Jasmine’s now acquired the ability to socially smile and coo. She’s developed so much in the last few weeks and every day she’s doing something new. It’s amazing and has made all of the crying and late night feedings so much more tolerable rewarding. Here are some still pictures I’ve taken over the last few days of her smiling.

5. Jasmine’s still smaller than bread
Ok, she’s smaller than some bread. I love the products that Zingerman’s in Ann Arbor offers but they are pricey so I can’t bring myself to order anything from them. However, knowing that I love their stuff and especially their bread, Jason went ahead and bought me something from there as a surprise
Little did he know how large it would be though. To help you truly appreciate how big this 2 kilo (4.5 pound) bread is, we used Jasmine for scaling purposes.

I hope you enjoyed the update! And to answer the obvious question, yes Jason always wears the same cutoff Blackrock shirt when at home. I swear he washes it very regularly.
Jasmine’s Smile

This is our first attempt at getting home movies online so the format’s a bit spotty. Still, we think it’s a great first shot
Jasmine is tons of fun in the morning, as seen here!
6 Weeks…

And doing well
After we bundled her up…

and put her in her stroller…

we went to the pediatrician for her 6 week check up. All was well at first when they measured her (now 22″ long!) and weighed her (9 lbs 7 ounces — nearly a 3 lb gain since we brought her home). The fun began when they had to give Jasmine her first shots ever; in fact, 3 shots. The first went into the left thigh and she whimpered, but it was on the next shot that the real scream came. The wailing only lasted about 10 seconds, then she calmed down and got her third shot without any complaints. I have to say I was impressed to have such a tough girl.
That’s about it, but here is a cute pic of her putting her feet on her face, with some help of course
